1. Troy (4) - Previous rank: 1 There
is no doubt left about the Trojans being the class of the conference. Their
league schedule the rest of the way looks very manageable on paper.
2. ULM - Previous rank: 2 ULM got brought back to
reality with their loss at Troy last week. The offense struggled with
back up QB Cody Wells in, while the defense had no answer for receiver
Jerrel Jernigan.
3. Middle Tennessee
- Previous rank: 4 The Blue Raiders
staged an improbable come from behind win at FAU and are just one
win away from bowl eligibility.
4. Florida Atlantic - Previous rank: 6 The Owls controlled
their game against MT on offense and defense but a terrible special teams
performance cost them a win.
5. FIU
- Previous rank: 7 With T.Y.
Hilton getting healthy again, the Golden Panthers look dangerous down the
stretch. Even with out him, FIU managed to score just enough in OT.
6. Arkansas State - Previous rank: 5 The Red Wolf
offense ranks toward the bottom in every statistical category in the
conference. Until they improve, Arkansas State is in trouble.
7. Louisiana-Lafayette - Previous rank: 3 The
Cajuns have been exposed as a pretender in the title race.
8. North Texas - Previous rank: 8 The
Mean Green had a lot of fun against the WKU defense to get their first
conference win, but will get more of a challenge this week against #2 ULM.
9. WKU - Previous rank: 9 The
Hilltoppers look to be on a crash course for an 0-12 season. This week
they get to host #1 Troy.
