Sun Belt Publisher's Week Eight Poll

1. Troy (4) - Previous rank: 1
Until someone knocks them off, they're sitting atop the Sun Belt. Levi Brown is looking like the guy to beat for Player of the Year with another huge day in win over FIU.

2. ULM - Previous rank: 2
The Warhawks certainly feel like they have a chance to win at Kentucky, but their big showdown comes next week at Troy. QB Trey Revell's injury is significant though and ULM may struggle until his return.

3. Louisiana-Lafayette - Previous rank: 4
Didn't look great, but did enough to hold off game WKU on the road. Very balanced running game came up big, big reason for nearly 38 min time of possession in win.

4. Middle Tennessee - Previous rank: 3
The Blue Raiders are struggling with a rash of injuries and have not been able to run the ball well of late.

5. Arkansas State - Previous rank: 4
It's a surprise that the Red Wolves are 0-2 in the league.

6. Florida Atlantic - Previous rank: 7
The Owls got in the win column in an offensive shootout at North Texas, but the defense has to get better if they hope to be a factor in the league race, but depending on next week's ULM/Troy game, it could already be too late.

7. FIU - Previous rank: 6
FIU hung around with Troy but the defense continues to have big problems.

8. North Texas - Previous rank: 8
Losing a lot of close calls. Outlook looking a little bleak as QB Riley Dodge left with ankle injury. If he's out, another win will be hard to come by, but RB Lance Dunbar continues the North Texas tradition of excellent backs.

9. WKU - Previous rank: 9
The Hilltoppers are probably ready for the season to end, as it was another game, another loss, same mistakes. Penalties lessened dramatically, but turnovers were again a killer. Defense can't stop anything and unless it gets better, getting any win at all will be tough. Offense is good but can't compensate enough for D.
